An exciting opportunity to see the world as part of Total's Exploration and Production (E&P) team has arisen for senior engineers with strong experience and expertise in the required discipline. Our E&P team is active in 42 countries across the globe and current opportunities offer attractive, long-term contracts in various international locations on a family or rotational basis.

As an instrumentation engineer you will have to:
Manage a team up to 10 persons
Study and draw up, maintenance programmes, taking safety and protection of the environment into consideration, and optimising costs and lead times
Draw up specifications for some modifications in connection with the installation
Analyze the operating parameters for optimizing the instrumentation maintenance
Analyze incidents and assess the solutions to be adopted
Increase reliability and adapt equipment to production requirements
Provide technical support to the instrumentation maintenance leader for control of equipments
Act as the focal point for instrumentation engineering matters, and provide expert technical advice to the instrumentation maintenance leader and other departments
Supervise the implementation of minor instrumentation modifications and improvement projects, to ensure their safe, cost-effective and timely execution in accordance with established Company standards and specifications
Review and control the standardization of materials and spare parts for instrumentation equipment and related systems. Review stock quantities, usage and consumption to minimize the stock value, whilst ensuring that all spare parts are available for routine, defect and shutdown maintenance
Ensure updating of the CMMS
Troubleshoot complex or recurring instrumentation problems, which require analysis and resolution with the help of other departments, vendors or original equipment manufacturers, and recommend sound and cost effective solution
Administer the instrumentation planned preventive maintenance program, to ensure that the maintenance tasks undertaken are adequate to prevent unplanned equipment failure
Liaise with vendors and the original equipment manufacturers for all queries regarding maintenance, modifications, spare parts, drawings and the resolution of technical problems
Ensures that all drawings, plans and manuals are up-to-date and ¿as built¿, and direct draftsmen to carry out all corrections to reflect any alterations, modifications and additions to instrumentation equipment systems
Review and check work completed by contractors, ensures compliance with work satisfactorily completed, make necessary corrections


Required skills

Education
Will be holder of Chartered Engineer (A-levels + 5 years study) or Higher National Diploma in Instrumentation Engineering
Engineering expertise in field for instrumentation discipline
Good knowledge in DCS and PLC
Good computer knowledge
Will have a high level of awareness of Health and Safety issues and be able to encourage good practice in others
Will be fluent in both spoken and written English
Experience
Will have 5-10 years experience in the field of instrumentation maintenance on oil installations
Will have a significant experience in CMIMS (SAP an advantage)
Skills
Will have the ability to lead and motivate multinational teams and to work independently while maintaining good relations with colleagues and others
Will be physical able to work on "offshore" installations in the climatic conditions of the site
Will be adept at working collaborating and proactively sharing information and expertise with your colleagues
Will be able to operate flexibly and sensitively in multi-cultural teams and local environments
Will be able and keen to travel the World and work in a variety of countries
